New Year, New Us!

An exciting message from Girls on the Run of Puget Sound

As we prepare for the year ahead we are eager to share some exciting changes that are in store for Girls on the Run Puget Sound.

Since 2002, we’ve had the privilege of serving more than 7500 girls across King County. Many of you have had the opportunity to experience our empowering program first hand – as a participant, parent, coach, running buddy or volunteer. You know the impact of our vision to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using our fun and creative running-based curriculum.

As we’ve expanded our program and strengthened our community, we’ve envisioned ways to make sure every girl has the chance to participate in our curriculum and feels empowered to pursue her dreams. Now, we have the resources in place to take important steps forward to significantly expand our reach by introducing Girls on the Run to new participants and create more opportunities for girls to participate at new and existing schools and program sites.

To do that, starting in school year 2016-17, we’re shifting to one season to focus on providing access to more girls who haven’t yet experienced the Girls on the Run message. Instead of offering two seasons – in the fall and spring – we’ll focus on one season, expanding our efforts to give more individuals the opportunity to join our spring season, which culminates with our celebratory 5K event in May.

We’ll be working toward these plans over the next year, and we expect you’ll have questions for us along the way. We promise to keep you updated and of course invite your questions and comments at any time.

On behalf of the entire team at Girls on the Run of Puget Sound, thank you for your ongoing support. We hope you’ll join us in sharing the great news about the exciting changes at Girls on the Run of Puget Sound.
