Girls on the Run is pleased to honor Coach Tiffany Rivera as our January Girl Hero!
Tiffany coached at Stevens Elementary in fall 2015 and her co-coaches all agree that she went “above and beyond to facilitate a great program for the Stevens girls.” Tiffany would make hot cocoa for the girls on the chilliest of days, had yoga mats donated by local businesses for the girls to sit on during practice, and even brought speakers to practice so the girls could listen to music while they ran. The Stevens GOTR team’s practices were so much fun that girls AND boys attending the adjacent afterschool program would often ask to run laps alongside the GOTR girls!
Towards the end of season, Tiffany motivated girls to keep running by giving each girl a fabric strip for each lap they ran. The girls then used these fabric strips to build a tutu for the final 5K that represented the weeks of hard work they spent training for their end-of-season run.
We are so incredibly grateful for Tiffany’s efforts and commitment to her girls. Coaches like Tiffany make Girls on the Run an amazing experience for participants and are truly making a difference for girls in our local community.
Are you passionate about empowering girls to be confident and strong? If yes, we hope you’ll consider joining us as a coach this spring! We are recruiting coaches for both our Girls on the Run program (3rd-5th grade) and our Heart & Sole program (6-8th).
