Girls on the Run of Puget Sound is excited to introduce the I Went the Extra Mile Scholarship Drive! Extra Mile provides an opportunity for GOTR participants to help their peers in King County by raising money to support scholarships for future participants who are unable to pay the entire program fee.
Scholarship Drive Details:
This fundraiser is completely optional for program participants and will not affect their eligibility to participate in the current season of GOTR or future seasons.
If girls choose to participate, they are asked to only approach family, friends, and close neighbors; for participant safety, we request that girls DO NOT go door-to-door or ask strangers for money towards the fundraiser.
Participants should collect donor names, contact info, and the donations (if given in the form of cash or check) in an envelope that will be provided by their coaches. Prizes will be given for meeting specific fundraising levels such that girls will receive prizes for all levels at and below their total amount raised. Envelopes with the money collected should be turned in at the 5K to receive the prizes.
All donations are 100% tax deductible.
Donations may be made via cash, check (made out to GOTR Puget Sound), or online via our website (www.girlsrun.org/donate). Donations made online should be recorded on the Scholarship Drive envelope, and the girl’s name should be included in the “Comments” box in the online donation form.
If donors submit their donation for a corporate match through their employer, the total amount will be counted towards the participant’s fundraising total as long as proof of the match is submitted in the Scholarship Drive envelope.
