Girls on the Run
GiveBIG!
Apr 24th
On Wednesday, May 2nd, The Seattle Foundation is hosting the GiveBIG Campaign, which is a community-wide event for online giving to local nonprofits.
Your gift to Girls on the Run on May 2nd will get BIGGER through GiveBIG!
What is GiveBIG?
- GiveBIG is one day only (Wednesday, May 2nd)
- Donate to Girls on the Run through the Seattle Foundation website anytime between midnight and midnight on May 2nd.
- The Seattle Foundation is raising thousands of dollars to give to local-area nonprofits on this day. The more money we raise on this day, the more money we receive from the Seattle Foundation GiveBIG stretch pool!
- During the day, you could be chosen at random to have your charity of choice—and we hope that’s Girls on the Run of Puget Sound—receive an additional $1,000 from GiveBIG’s sponsors. The selected donor will also be eligible to win a Starbucks gift card worth $100!
Why should you GiveBIG to Girls on the Run?
- Our program helps 3rd through 5th grade girls develop confidence and embrace their individuality.
- Together with their volunteer coaches and running buddies, hundreds of girls will cross the finish line of their first 5K, feeling healthy, strong and confident.
- Girls learn to recognize their power and responsibility to be intentional in their decision-making through our fun, experience-based curriculum.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 on May 2nd and we can do that with YOUR help! Mark your calendar now to GiveBIG on May 2nd!

Running Buddy registration is open!
Feb 23rd
| We can’t believe it’s already that time of year, but Running Buddy registration is now open for the Spring Season!Share a girl’s exhilaration and excitement as she crosses the finish line of her first 5K. One of her favorite parts of the 5K day is having her very own Running Buddy by her side. The goal of Girls on the Run is for the girls to do their best and HAVE FUN! Girls are not encouraged to race competitively, but are encouraged to reach their own goals. For most girls, that’s making it to the finish line- whether it is by walking, running or skipping.
As a Running Buddy, you will be paired up with a GOTR girl during two 5K experiences: on-site at the Practice 5K on April 30th (Monday) or May 1st (Tuesday) and at the Girls on the Run 5K on May 19th (Saturday) in Seward Park. That means keeping pace with the girl, ensuring her safety, and cheering her on! We have over 400 girls who will cross the finish line this season and we need your help to make this happen! If you are a fun-loving, patient and supportive female with the ability to run or power-walk a 5K, consider being a Running Buddy this season. We encourage males to be Running Buddies only if they already know their girl- for example, parent, guardian, brother, cousin, teacher or principal. It will be an unforgettable experience for you and your Girl Buddy as you cross the finish line hand-in-hand at the GOTR 5K on May 19th!
