With great pleasure we honor, Heidi Lauinger, as our April Girl Hero. Heidi first got involved with Girls on the Run as her daughter’s Running Buddy and is currently a coach at Ben Franklin Elementary. Heidi was touched by how much the program helped Jordan “learn about goal setting and enabled her to realize her inner beauty.”
Heidi is passionate about running so she jumped at the chance to be Jordan’s Running Buddy for the season culminating 5K. She was unsure as to how Jordan would do during the race, as she had never run long distances, but says she had no expectations of the experience other than to be her #1 fan. That being said, Heidi was completely blown away by the way Jordan pushed herself throughout the race. When she asked Jordan what kept her moving forward and pushing herself throughout the race, Jordan said it was because Heidi was by her side cheering her on. In Jordan’s words, “you kept telling me I could do it so I just kept going.”
Want to be a girls #1 cheerleader, like Heidi? Sign up as a Running Buddy for the Spring 5K on Saturday, May 7th and help a girl achieve her goal of completing a 5K.
